Remember. Integrate. Stand. Embrace.

Supporting you on your yoga and wellness journey, as you RISE up and become everything that you were meant to be!

Rise Yoga & Wellness offers local, national, and international yoga retreats, as well as classes and workshops in St. John's, Newfoundland.

Our Philosophy

Rise Yoga and Wellness was created by two women who believe that the practice of yoga can be transformative. The word yoga itself stems from the Sanskrit word, Yuj, which means to yolk, unite, connect. We come to our mats to re-unite our breath with our body, realign our mind with our heart, and to REMEMBER all the incredible things that make us who we are.

We all embark on our journey for our own personal reasons, and though we each have our own unique experience on our mat there's something really powerful about moving in unison, synchronising movement & breath to elevate our individual and collective energies, strengthening our relationships to self and others. We embody the philosophy that every member of our community is intricately intertwined and each member is pivotal in growing a strong, nourished, and connected community.

Through our classes and retreats, we hope to enrich and enhance our growing yoga family by building a supportive space that fosters authentic relationships, while helping to nurture a genuine and sustainable yoga practice that will continue to evolve the physical and emotional health and well-being of our students. We're committed to providing a safe, inviting, and all encompassing environment, where we'll guide our students as they navigate their way through their own personal transformative journey on and off the mat, allowing all that participate to leave feeling a little more connected to their own mind, body, and soul. Our hope for you on this journey is that you continue to REMEMBER who you are; INTEGRATE this new knowledge into your being; STAND in your truth; EMBRACE all the incredible things that make you uniquely you. RISE up and become all that you are meant to be.

Danielle Flynn

Danielle (Dani) Flynn is a certified yoga instructor and nature enthusiast who has a passion for movement, mindfulness, connection and adventures! She has been offering group yoga classes in and around her community of St. John’s, Newfoundland for over 10 years now, always striving to offer a lighthearted and centred approach to teaching. Dani aims to cultivate balance in her classes by guiding her students back to that cheerful playfulness from childhood & that peaceful grounded place within.

Her training is rooted in Vinyasa flow yoga (Sonic Yoga, 200 Hour YTT) with a focus on creative sequencing and advanced postures (Authentic Movements, 500 Hour YTT) and is beautifully balanced by additional training in Yin Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, Thai Yoga Massage and (soon-to-be) Neurogenic Yoga & TRE.

Outside of working and teaching, Dani can usually be found along the coastline of the rocky shores of Newfoundland, hiking or paddling with her little buddy, Fern (her dog) or cozied up at home with a good book, some wool, thread, paint or any other number of crafting materials – depending on the day!

When asked what she loves most about yoga… “The freedom that’s cultivated in body, mind and spirit, and being able to share that with other people, it’s a gift. One that I’m genuinely grateful for.”

A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not in the branch but in her own wings.

Yoga has been a part of my life for ten years now, and so have Andrea and Danielle:) They are both fantastic instructors, and I've had the pleasure of being their student for classes (face-to-face & virtual), workshops, and retreats. They are both knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate. During class they provide clear instructions, modifications, and permission to move your body in a way that is right for you. I love the flow of class and the creativity in movements and I always leave class better than I arrived. I'm looking forward to future classes and retreats!

I have been taking yoga classes with Danielle and Andrea for nearly 8 years. They are both wonderful teachers with years of yoga training who are so caring and supportive when they teach. I have taken classes with both of them separately and at their retreats in Port Rexton. They teach many forms of yoga and meditation for all ages. I am a senior who is trying desperately to keep my body and mind in shape. I recommend either of them for beginners and experienced yogis and for anyone who just wants to feel better about themselves.

Myself and my girlfriends have attended 2 of Danielle and Andrea’s retreats in Port Rexton now. They have been awesome!! Great schedule that included just the right amount of yoga, social and down time.  The location was amazing! Food fabulous! They interact with their guests and are so authentic. I would recommend these ladies and their class/ retreats to anyone.
